Period Poverty can be described as a type of poverty that affects people who menstruate when they don't have access to menstrual products. This can also be a lack of sex ed in countries where periods are considered taboo, and this negativity can lead to women/girls missing school or work from feelings of shame from the community.

In the U.S., women struggle to obtain these products due to lack of access to safe pads and tampons and a lack of income to fund buying them. The infamous "Pink Tax" is a tax on every feminine product in 35 U.S. states, while men's grooming products are not. In the U.S. periods are classified under a luxury tax, even though they are far from it. Combining the average costs, a monthly period in the U.S. costs $13.25 a month and in an whole lifetime of menstruation (15-52 years) a woman spends around $6,360 on her period in her lifetime! Unfortunately many homeless women and children are the highest affected from Period Poverty.

With the Bay Area, California having one of the highest homeless rates in the country Caring For Her has set our mission to stay local. We will distribute menstrual products bought from 100% of our profits to homeless/women's shelters all around Northern California. Thank you for reading and supporting us!
